Merry Christmas!

Hello! I am sorry for not writing. It has been hard to find words. I have been holding my kids closer and spend more time with my family, texting less and enjoying the small things in life. I am back and so excited about sharing more with you!  The girls and I did finish their Christmas Dolls with the Advent Calendar . I have to admit we got into a grove and finished them early. I wish, I had made one for me too. My oldest, Miss Penguin, really got into the details of her doll. She added a heart name tag on the doll's skirt. I thought that was so smart and it was all her idea. Of course little sister had to have that too. I made a few handmade Christmas gifts I wanted to share...  I etched this Pyrex pan with a product called Etch All. I used my Silhouette to cut out the decal design, placed the vinyl where I wanted the design to go and then placed Etch All cream over it for 15 minutes. Wash the surface and you have your design on the glass.  Here is a gre

Christmas Skirt for My Purse!

I love making these cute little skirts for my Thirty One purse. They are simple to make and just by changing the skirt, I have a whole new look. I have also started playing with my embroidery machine and adding phrases or monogramming.  I found this fabric at Jo-Ann's for a $1.25. It was a red tag item marked $5.00 per yard and then 50% off. I only need half a yard , Woohoo! I used safety pins instead of the brackets to hook the skirt onto the purse. Love it when a plan comes together.

Casting Off a Round Loom Tutorial

Boot Cuff Tutorial After making 7 pairs of boot cuffs, I found a better way. This tutorial will show you how to cast off a round loom and keep the opening stretchy like the top of the round loom fabric. You can find the boot cuff video tutorial here .   Subscribe to SewSpoiled Youtube Channel if you like to learn more through our video tutorials.

Country Living Christmas Books!!!

County Living has two fantasy books that will put you into the holiday spirit! 'Tis the season to be jolly, Fa, la, la, la, la! The first is Deck The Halls written by Katy McColl , former Executive Editor of O at Home and Country Living.  What a cute idea for the chapters in this book, icons!! Deck the Halls is filled with recipes, note cards, stickers, to/from's and tips on how decorate your home.   I love the sticker pages and punch out gift boxes. This book says, "Use ME!", it is not a pretty picture book to put on the self. Deck the Halls is a Santa's little helper book, filled with fantastic ideas you can't find online. If you are looking for holiday inspiration, maybe you need an extra spring in your step, pick up this book. It will stay by your side all winter season. ***********************************************  As if that was not enough, here is the second Country Living Christmas Book called, The Farm Chicks Christmas

Products you can Easily Personalize

Every year I try to make something handmade for all of my love ones. It makes me feel like a kid again.  I think it really shows someone how much you care for them too. It is easy to buy a gift card at the grocery store and put someones name on it. Anyone can do that, but it really means more when you spend time making something special for someone you care about. I will admit that I wish December had extra days built in because it goes by so fast. So if you are pressed for time, here are some store bought gifts you can easily personalize. For Women: Scarfs Shirts Hoodies Jackets Totes Baskets Aprons Cosmetic Bag Glass Pans Glasses Mugs Ornaments Office Supplies Plastic Containers For Men: Handkerchiefs Guitar Strap For Babies: Bibs Onesies Blankets Tell us what you are making this holiday season!

Christmas Doll Advent Calendar

Our family has a holiday tradition of using an advent calendar to celebrate Christmas. It is typically candy but this year I thought we would try something different. I love making dolls and toys for my girls. Especially during this time of year, but it gets so hectic that we usually end up making them quickly and the project becomes stressful. So this is my plan for a wonderful experience, all the while building anticipation for their special handmade Christmas dolls. 1. First you will need a great, easy to follow, toy sewing pattern.  These are some of my favorites.... Bit of Whimsy Dolls MMM Crafts Wee Wonderfuls My girls and I will be making the Beth Doll and the Baby Mermaid . 2. Read through the sewing pattern carefully and make a sewing plan.   This is what I came up with, you are more than welcome to use it. My girls like to pick out their own fabrics, so I might have to adjust it as we move through the advent calendar. Dec1 Receive bag #1 with doll
